R.A.M. is an interdenominational organization which sponsors a year-round ministry of worship and outreach to vacationers and residents in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northwest NC (Watauga-Avery Counties). R.A.M. provides special summer ministries in campgrounds and to the residents.
The following positions are available:
Summer Ministry Team
Two students will be hired to work with RAM’s ministries in the following areas:
Community Service Projects - helps needy families or individuals with light carpentry, cleaning, grass cutting, painting, etc. Team visits elderly people and helps discover needs of mountain people, migrants and transients. The team will also work with visiting mission groups for work projects such as house painting, weatherizing, roofing and minor carpentry repairs. Recipients are usually elderly or infirmed people who cannot provide the cost of labor. They are carefully selected. These projects usually last three to four days, and RAM hosts five to six groups a summer.
Campground Ministry - works with three local campgrounds in developing a Christian presence in the campgrounds. The team leads worship for tourists, Backyard Bible clubs and publicizes upcoming R.A.M. events. Staff may also be involved in speaking to local churches about R.A.M. ministries.
Social Ministry - works with the R.A.M.'s Rack Thrift Shop, helps sort used clothing, displaying clothing and other merchandise, and assists with the on-going operation and ministry of the thrift shop.
Applicants should be flexible and willing to work long hours.
R.A.M. staff serves 10 weeks from May 27-August 3, 2014. Salary $200 per week. Transportation and housing are provided. Interviews: January 17 & 18, 2014 (An interview is required). Deadline for applications: December 31, 2013.
